Ten things
we've found
to be true.
A decade of building, compressed into ten sentences. Some we knew on day one. Most took years to earn.
- 01
Focus on the user. Everything else follows.
Most companies claim to put users first. Few will resist the small sacrifice that boosts this quarter's number. We have. For 13 years we've refused to ship a single change that doesn't pay a user back — in speed, clarity, or trust.
- 02
Do one thing. Really, really well.
Every Skcript product is built by people who woke up thinking about it. Not a portfolio. Not a hedge. A single obsession, sharpened over years. Depth is cheaper than breadth, and it ages a lot better.
- 03
Fast is better than slow.
Our users want the answer. They want it now. Every millisecond we shave is a millisecond of their life we don't steal. We obsess over the page that loads before you notice — and the workflow that ends before you expect.
- 04
Simplicity is the destination.
Not a step along the way. Not an aesthetic. The goal. When the interface disappears, the work shows up. Every feature we remove earns us more trust than the last one we shipped.
- 05
Bootstrapped is the edge.
No investors means no theatre. No quarterly scramble. No features built to impress a board deck. We answer to customers and to the work. That's a constraint that makes the product better, not smaller.
- 06
You can make money without making noise.
We don't buy attention. We don't run on hype. We ship, and the people who need us find us. Revenue earned quietly is revenue that stays. The loudest company is rarely the one you trust with your operations.
- 07
Taste compounds. Hire for it.
Taste is the ability to pick the right thing when nobody told you what the right thing is. You can't teach it in a bootcamp. We hire people who have it and trust them to make a thousand small calls a day that add up to a product with a soul.
- 08
There's always a smaller team that can ship it better.
Software companies grow headcount to look serious. We grow it to do the work. A lean team argues more, ships faster, and cares harder. Every hire has to justify the tax they put on everyone else's clarity.
- 09
Borders don't apply to ideas.
We build from Chennai for customers in every timezone. The best software thinks in no language in particular — it works for a developer in Berlin and a founder in Bengaluru with the same grace. We optimize for the farthest user, and the nearest one benefits.
- 10
You can be serious without a suit.
There's a snooker table in the middle of our office. A chai run twice a day. Founders at the same desk as the intern. None of this is at odds with being the most serious company in the room about the work. If anything, it's why we are.
- 11
Great isn't good enough.
Shipping is the start. Great is the floor. The bar is whatever makes a user stop and say — "oh, that's better than it had to be." We chase that line every day, because anything less will be forgotten in six months and replaced in a year.
Great isn't
good enough.
That's the tenth. It's also the first. It's the one that rewrites every other rule when the bar needs to go higher.
